Caribbean Stocks Hold Steady at Week’s End

In last Thursday’s trading session, the last for week before the Easter holiday, the JSE Market Index declined by 883.86 points (0.83%) to close at 105,770.62.

The JSE Select Index advanced by 11.45 points (0.39%) to close at 2,986.81. The JSE All Jamaican Composite advanced by 541.69 points (0.50%) to close at 109,203.39.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 23 stocks of which 8 advanced, 8 declined and 7 traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 6,910,737 units valued at over $64,855,256. Mayberry Inv Ltd 12% was the volume leader with 2,638,030 units (38.17%) followed by Capital & Credit Merchant Bank Ltd. with 1,362,426 units (19.71%) and Supreme Ventures Limited with 1,020,000 units (14.76%).

In Trinidad, four stocks advanced and seven declined in Thursday’s trading. 439,960 stocks valued TT$11,771,416.88 traded.

In Barbados, two securities advanced, one declined and four traded firm as 65,571 shares traded on the Regular Market, with a total value of Bds$328,509.81. Sagicor Financial Corporation was the volume leader trading 20,914 shares at $5.00. They were followed by Banks Holdings Limited and Cave Shepherd & Co Ltd which traded 14,768 and 10,592 shares respectively.
