Six CARICOM Countries Seek IMF Support

Caught between a rock and rough seas, six CARICOM countries have sought IMF financial assistance in response to the downturn in tourism receipts and other setbacks. St. Vincent and the Grenadines (followed by Dominica and St. Lucia) is the first country in the Western Hemisphere to request a drawing under the Fund’s Exogenous Shock Facility, while, Grenada, Belize and St Kitts and Nevis have sought other types of support.
