		<description>Joshua, the standard of living in a particular constituency should be one of a number of criteria used to decide whether someone should (continue to) be their elected rep.  Like you, I did read Mr. Wignall&#039;s column and while it&#039;s main thrust was to question the fitness of Portia to continue to be the PNP leader, it also points out the cult of personality surrounding some politicos in Jamaica.  The problem is that you still have Jamaicans who vote for personality rather than performance and present-day West Kingston and SW St. Andrew have come to epitomize this.  The problem is that it is in the politicians&#039; bests interests for the voting populace to remain as stupid as ever in order for them to perpetrate their continuing con.  Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on one viewpoint) you have young folks coming up who have gotten wise to a lot of the BS being foisted on them by these &#039;leaders&#039; and are having none of it.  I guess with the widespread availability of cable TV and the internet things will change.  One can only hope and pray.</description>
